CO₂ Laser
The CO₂ laser is primarily used to mark solder resists. During the color change, there is only minimal material removal and no adverse effects due to environmental influences. However, the contrast of the marking depends on the solder resist.

Fiber Laser
The fiber laser is ideal for marking printed circuit boards by removing solder resist. Marking requires a copper layer under the resist.
The advantage: the contrast of the marking is independent of the solder resist; only minor or no parameter changes are required for a wide range of resists. Furthermore, a wide variety of metals, plastics and ceramics can be marked.
