“It runs, it runs, it runs…” – The ASYS handling module that has been part of BECOM’s production for decades

For the BECOM Group, which has been supporting industrial customers as an electronic engineering, manufacturing, and service partner from development through series production since 1984, reliability and long-term investment security are essential prerequisites for successful production. With international locations and partners, the company supplies customers around the world, relying on high-performance and stable manufacturing processes.
This is precisely where BECOM and ASYS share a long-standing partnership.
Over many years, ASYS’s handling and automation solutions have become an integral part of production. Particularly noteworthy is the service life of the systems in use. While machines in many production environments must be replaced after a few years, the ASYS systems at BECOM continue to perform reliably.
“Our oldest handling module still has a double-digit serial number and is still running,” reports Joachim Supper, Production Manager at BECOM.
This statement reflects more than just the longevity of a single machine. It represents a machine design concept focused on quality, maintainability, and long-term usability. Thanks to the availability of replacement parts and the ability to maintain systems over many years, existing investments can be utilized sustainably.
“We have in-house technicians who can service or repair the machines, and replacement parts are also available – so it just keeps running and running,” Supper continues.
In addition to technical reliability, BECOM particularly highlights its collaboration with ASYS. In day-to-day production, every minute often counts. This makes it all the more important to have a partner who responds quickly and offers pragmatic support when it’s needed. For BECOM, this service-oriented approach has been an essential part of the partnership for many years.
The further development of existing systems also plays an important role. Requirements change, production processes become more complex, and topics such as digitalization and automation are becoming increasingly important. Instead of completely replacing existing systems, BECOM relies on solutions that can be expanded and adapted to new requirements.
“There’s also always the option to expand something. The quality is unparalleled; there aren’t many other systems that are this durable,” explains Mario Giefing (Group Leader, Process & Technology Development).
Looking to the future, both companies see great potential, particularly in the networking of systems, the use of production data, and standardized interfaces. The goal is to make manufacturing processes even more transparent and to make information available across the entire network of production lines.
The history of the ASYS handling module with a two-digit serial number is far more than just a technical feature. It demonstrates how sustainable machine designs, high quality, and collaborative partnerships can create genuine added value over decades.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Joachim Supper, Mario Giefing, and the entire BECOM Group team for their long-standing trust and excellent collaboration. We look forward to continuing our shared success story in the future.
