Success Story

Stelt2 Strengthens Long-Standing Partnership with ASYS

Stelt2, a long-standing electronics assembly service provider based in Turin, Italy, has been serving various industries, including the automotive sector, since 1979.

With a focus on delivering high-quality, high-reliability products, Stelt2 has always prioritized technical expertise and innovation in its production processes. Over the years, Stelt2 has continuously sought cutting-edge solutions to meet the growing demands of their industry, particularly in handling complex PCB assemblies for the automotive market.

Stelt2 has been a loyal customer of ASYS for nearly two decades, starting with its first DIVISIO 5100 system, purchased 15 years ago. Over time, their trust in ASYS' high-quality depaneling systems has grown, leading to the recent decision to invest in the advanced GEN5 DIVISIO 5100 (based on the concept of the DIVISIO 6000 machine).

Challenge
As a key player in the automotive industry, Stelt2 faces stringent regulations and ever-increasing complexity in product design. The company’s need for precision, scalability, and speed in the production of PCBs is critical. Stelt2 had already integrated multiple ASYS systems, including INSIGNUM laser and VEGO handling machines, into their seven production lines. However, with a growing demand for more complex assemblies, they sought a new solution that could streamline their production processes while maintaining the highest standards of technical cleanliness and flexibility.

The challenge for Stelt2 was to find a depaneling machine that could handle a wide range of board sizes, provide rapid cycle times, and offer the flexibility required to meet the dynamic needs of their customers—all while reducing manual labor and simplifying operations.

The Decision
After extensive market research and evaluation, Stelt2 decided to continue their partnership with ASYS by investing in the DIVISIO 6000 depaneling system. The choice was driven by several factors: the machine’s compact design, its ability to process large boards (up to 10x10 dimensions), and its high level of automation, which allowed for significant efficiency improvements. Furthermore, the machine’s flexibility and precision in handling complex products made it a perfect fit for Stelt2's evolving needs.

"The DIVISIO 6000 was the first successful attempt to concentrate the final stages of production within a single machine," says William Gili from Stelt2’s engineering department. "We needed a solution that could meet the growing demands of our market, and the DIVISIO 6000 delivered exactly that."

The Special Benefits of the DIVISIO 6000
The introduction of the DIVISIO 6000 into Stelt2’s production line has been transformative. One of the key advantages of the machine is its rotary table and inline concept, which allows for faster cycle times and greater efficiency in processing a wide range of board sizes. The compact design of the DIVISIO 6000 makes it ideal for Stelt2's space-constrained production environment, without compromising on performance.

Stelt2 also appreciates the machine's ability to meet their specific needs in terms of technical cleanliness and precision, both of which are critical in the automotive industry. Additionally, the system's flexibility allows for easy integration with other production line elements, making it scalable for future growth.

"With the DIVISIO 6000, we can now handle medium to small sized boards, meet faster cycle times, and reduce the manual mounting of components. It’s a significant leap forward in simplifying our production process," Gili explains. "The machine’s performance has exceeded our expectations."

Looking Ahead

Stelt2 is extremely satisfied with their investment in the DIVISIO portfolio and is already considering expanding their depaneling capacity with additional ASYS systems. "If the product fits the machine, we would definitely order another DIVISIO 6000. The flexible possibilities of the machine are unmatched, and ASYS continues to deliver solutions that meet our evolving needs," says Gili.

As Stelt2 looks to the future, they see increasing demand for faster and more efficient depaneling solutions, particularly as component sizes continue to shrink and production complexity rises. Stelt2 remains committed to working with ASYS to explore new innovations that will enable them to stay ahead of the curve in the fast-paced world of electronics manufacturing.
