Huber+Suhner AG Counts on the Expertise of ASYS Group in the Field of Handling and Special Machine Construction
With a view to the future, Huber+Suhner AG, manufacturer of electrical and optical connection technology and antennas, decided to expand its production facilities. Two new production lines for antenna manufacturing were installed. The ASYS Group was chosen as the supplier. "For this project ASYS was the right partner for us. The wide range of products and the long experience in automation convinced us. ASYS was able to provide us with all the processes we needed", says the project manager of Huber+Suhner.
Based on the broad expertise in the fields of process integration, handling and customer-specific special solutions, the ASYS Group is constantly developing new innovations. For the antenna production for Huber+Suhner AG ASYS has implemented customer specific handling processes. The result: two efficient production lines with high flexibility and productivity.
On the first line, the components of the antennas are manufactured by injection molding. About 80 meters of the ASYS overhead and underfloor transport systems are used for the transport between the process machines and line loaders and unloaders. The product components are transported in magazines between the first and second line.
In the second line, eight special systems carry out various customer-specific handling processes, such as opening/closing and loading/unloading of special carriers. Thanks to the Optilign option, the X5 Professional stencil printer from EKRA prints all components in a single step on a product carrier. This shortens the cycle time, so that only a single stencil printer is needed for the line. Other equipment such as loaders and unloaders, buffer systems for optical control and label marking systems are integrated into the line. The ASYS TECTON palletizers are used for end-of-line realization and the packaging process.
Both lines offer potential for more. They have been designed in such a way that they can be expanded at any time with additional loaders, unloaders and special machines. "For us it was the first project in this level of automation. The complexity lay in the changes made during the design phase. Here it became clear how flexible the ASYS systems are and how quickly they can be adapted to new requirements. The good communication between the project managers of both companies also contributed to the success of the project", says the project manager of Huber+Suhner.
