Brose Again Opts for INSIGNUM 4000 Laser Marking Systems
With the INSIGNUM 4000 laser, positioning accuracies of +/-100µm@5 sigma are achieved. High placement densities on small PCBs can be easily realized. In addition, the system positions, marks and verifies in under one second per position. "Nowadays, it's all about running precise processes as fast as possible. This is immediately reflected in output figures, and this is also our primary focus when selecting our production equipment," explains Andre Fikrt, the responsible Brose process technologist. ASYS comes up with sophisticated options here: With the OPTIMAP option, the cycle time can be significantly reduced by making optimum use of the marking field. In the area of 80x80mm positions are summarized and marked and verified without travel movements. A synchronous PCB transport (Fast PCB Exchange) for the hand- and takeover of the PCBs reduces additional non-productive time in the process. An integrated flip station enables PCBs to be marked on both sides and completes the turning handling in less than 1.6 seconds.
"Another important point is to provoke as little downtime in the line as possible," explains Andre Fikrt. Therefore, it was important to network the systems with each other in order to keep setup times to a minimum. Thanks to the Offline Programming tool from ASYS and the Product Pool, data can be passed on to each other and can be prepared. Overall, Brose relies on the full equipment of the machine and has integrated features that, in addition to the shortened cycle time, are aimed at optimized processes and reduced setup times.
As a long-standing customer of the ASYS Group, Brose has been relying on the advantages of ASYS laser marking systems for more than six years. The flagship in the laser portfolio – the INSIGNUM 4000 laser – has been particularly convincing. Overall, an extremely short cycle time – just 20 seconds – can be achieved as a result, so that the lasers no longer cause a bottleneck for the line and its downstream processes.
"The cooperation with ASYS went very well. With Robert Oesterle and David Steinbarth, we had two project managers at our side who did an excellent job of realizing the order.", emphasizes Andre Fikrt, the responsible contact person at Brose.
