Process integration and consulting – the core competence of EKRA
In the HYCON product area the process experts of EKRA are dedicated to all special applications around screen and stencil printing. They accompany the entire development process, from the first idea to the conception and the realization with specialized expert knowledge.
The key technology of the fuel cell is gaining in importance with the energy market transformation. Ways are being sought to generate energy in a renewable way and thus ensure a sustainable supply. EKRA supplies efficient overall concepts for the production of the fuel cell. As an established supplier for production automation, the ASYS Group, of which EKRA has been a member since 2005, combines expertise in material logistics, stencil printing, laser technology and customer-specific assembly solutions.
In fuel cell technology, a main distinction is made between high-temperature fuel cells (SOFC - Solid Oxide Fuel Cells) and low-temperature fuel cells (PEMFC - Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells).
In the production of both systems, the SOFC and the PEMFC, EKRA with its know-how in the process steps can make a decisive contribution to meeting the high quality requirements for such a system.
In the anode-based concept, the SOFC consists of an oxide ceramic, for which ASYS offers solutions for processing in both the fired and unfired state. The materials used can easily be put into a paste form, so that all active elements and possible support layers can be screen printed. By using different screen cloths and process parameters, different materials can be applied evenly and accurately in the required layer thicknesses on an ASYS/EKRA printing machine. The sealing of high temperature cells, both on the MEA and the bipolar plate, consists of temperature-stable material. Even this can be applied as a paste by screen-printing.
