EKRA Printing Systems – Smart Features for Efficient Manufacturing Processes

Eight hours of autonomy is the set standard and smart features are the concentrated answer to efficient manufacturing processes.

Modular Camera Unit (MCU)
With the help of the modular camera unit (MCU) developed by EKRA, it is possible to automatically detect, control and track modules in the plant. The machine recognizes the characteristics of each connected module, grippers and different types of dispensers are automatically distinguished. The control system is adapted to the respective module fully automatically, the module-specific parameters and settings are loaded in the same go. The history is then stored in the module. This ensures that maintenance cycles are maintained during cross-system alternating operation.

Smart Module – Automatic Pin Setting (APS)
APS optimizes setup changes in the printer. Support pins are set, validated and also set up automatically. In most cases, specific "toolings" (printing nests) are used depending on the product. If the product to be processed changes, the support (printing nests) must be reworked or rebuilt accordingly. Alternatively, flexible pin systems can be used. However, these are not permitted in some industries because they touch components and can therefore cause damage. With APS, EKRA offers a solution that provides very good support in component-free areas and places them automatically. It is ensured that each pin is in the correct position and does not touch any component. Contamination is effectively avoided, as no pin is under a via. APS is independent of product sizes and therefore offers the necessary flexibility in times of miniaturized and densely packed PCBs.

Smart Modules – Dispenser für Kleber und Lotpaste (iPAGs)
EKRA also requires traceability for the application of paste and adhesive. EKRA offers three dispensing systems with heating and level monitoring - the iPAG 100, iPAG 200 and iPAG 300. The iPAG 100 is a screw dispenser for paste and adhesive. The iPAG 200 jets glue onto the substrate, the iPAG 300 is a jet dispenser for glue and paste. Thanks to the modular camera unit (MCU), any iPAG system can be used in any printer. Even the combination of APS and iPAG is possible without any problems. The modules can be easily set up and changed over using simple plug connections.
